A few weeks after my last blog, I quit smoking and I'm proud to say that I've been smoke free for two years now. How did I do it? With pure will and good support. You know Des, the girl I was blogging about two years back? She was my inspiration but I couldn't have done it without help from up above. I asked the Lord to give me strength to stop and he did. It wasn't easy and I did have one or two puffs along the way, but I believe I won't be getting any relapse. The taste just isn't the same anymore.
Around June 2008, I received a message from my aunt and she was asking if I was interested in working in Angola. Of course I said yes! This could be the break I was waiting for. The promise from my God, that all will be ok in His time. And you know what? On July 9, 2008 I boarded my first International flight bound for Hong kong, then to Johannesburg and finally to Luanda, Angola. I have been working here for almost two years now and there is never a day that I thank the Lord for his blessings. I knew that if I trusted Him, he will take care of me. I knew that in His time, he will answer my prayers.
When I first wrote this blog, I mentioned that I met a girl. I knew back then that she was the one for me. She was the answer to my prayers. And I even mentioned in one of my posts that I can hear church bells in the future. Well on March 21, 2009 those church bells did ring. However, there was still one huge test that we had to overcome. You see, we both live an work in separate continents. An the only that we could be together was during my month long vacations. But it's expensive because we have to go to the Philippines to be with each other. I don't have a visa for Canada. We knew it will be difficult but we have faith in God. We knew that we will be together someday. Back in 2008, Des asked me when I will go to Canada. I said "in two years" but I didn't have a clue on how that would be possible. But with the Lord, nothing is impossible. Last November 2009 we started an application for my Canadian visa. Des submitted an application to sponsor me last January 2010. And around the second week of March, I was looking at a shiny new immigrant visa stamped on my passport. I'm bound for Canada on July 19, 2010, a little late but still close to my promise to Des that I will be in Canada after two years.
So why am I telling my story? I'm writing this down because I want others to see that my life is a testament to God's love. I want others to know that if we allow God in our lives, He will shower us with His blessings. He will give you not only what you are asking for but he will give them to you overflowing. All you need to do is be patient and keep your faith. In His time... in His place... if it's good for you... He will give it to you.
Thank you Lord for all of your blessings!
